Room Data Sheets SmartTool

RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to document the requirements and information of every space within a project. These are typically prepared by the client during the briefing (also known as architectural programming in the US) phase of the design process https://searchstreams.info/what-is-an-alternate-data-stream but they can also be revised during the design process to reflect changing requirements or to give an improved and more precise picture for those responsible for executing the project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows users to create room (or space) sheets of data using the Revit project. It’s a fast and precise tool that can be used to create sheet, elevation and schedule views. The tool is able to create 3D, plans elevations and schedule views for rooms or spaces that are named parametrically and numbering new sheets.

The tool will default to the Room Numbering Template and Sheet Format that are created by the Revit Project. However, you can select a different sheet style and name by clicking the Tool Options tab. Click “Load Configuration …’ on the toolbar to replace current settings with previously saved configurations. This can reduce the amount of manual rework required for different rooms and types.

The ‘Naming’ tab allows the user to choose whether the selected room/space is included in the Sheet Name text box which is located on the left of the screen. The ‘View Name’ field is the text that appears in the title bar for each view, while ‘View Increment:’ specifies the increment of numbers between each view when placed on the sheet. The ‘Spacing’ option lets you to control the space between each view. The “Exclude Titles from Estimating View Sizes for Sheets’ choice will prevent titles from being included in the calculation of the number of views on the sheet.
